Gongos and Associates Aids Red Cross with July 23rd Blood Drive

Gongos and Associates will host its Summer Blood Drive for the Red Cross on July 23rd from 10:00 a.m.- 3:45 p.m. John Gongos, president and CEO of the marketing research firm, hosts the blood drives twice a year in honor of his father, a former Red Cross executive in Sandusky, Ohio.

Bloomfield Hills, MI July 17, 2004 -- As a child, John Gongos developed a real appreciation for the work of the Red Cross. My father was the executive director of the American Red Cross in Sandusky, Ohio, explained Gongos, president and CEO of the marketing research firm, Gongos and Associates. Growing up, I visited many disaster sites with my dad and got a real-life, first-hand view of the value of the Red Cross and how it helps people. Nowadays Gongos shows his support by hosting blood drives in his companys offices.

Gongos and Associates will host its Summer Blood Drive for the American Red Cross on Friday, July 23, 2004. The blood drive will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. at the firms offices on North Adams Road in Bloomfield Hills. Two appointments will be scheduled every 15 minutes starting at 10:00 a.m. The Red Cross has recently declared a statewide appeal due to critical blood shortages.

Gongos and Associates hosts blood drives twice a year in summer and winter. Collecting blood during the summer is really difficult for the Red Cross because people are traveling more and schools, which account for almost 12 percent of the blood collected in the Detroit area, are closed for the summer, said John Gongos. Our goal is to collect 34 pints of blood during this blood drive.

Gongos and Associates began hosting blood drives in 2002. The firm rewards employees who give blood by granting them a half day off of work. Employees, family members and employees from neighboring companies are expected to take part in the blood drive. This year Gongos and Associates is inviting local clients and suppliers to participate as well.

Gongos and Associates hosts two blood drives a year in support of the American Red Cross. John Gongos believes that the blood drives honor his father and the important work done by the Red Cross.
